10 Laws of Real Estate & Business Productivity
So, how are you doing at applying the rules that we sent out for productivity in your life?
Yep, I get it, change is difficult, so lets break this down for you by starting with the first one.
Value Your Time: It’s cliche, but true, you can make more money, but you can’t make more time. Value your time. That means, don’t waste it…they’re not making more of it. Treat it like it’s the most valuable currency you have, because it is. Here is an example, a well meaning student offered to help us at an upcoming event in Las Vegas for a few days for free. NO NO NO NO, first of all, you need that time for your own business and family and should be PAID when you do work. If you work for free you are doing your family and community a disservice.
Have you been watching how you use your time? If you have not do this 1 simple thing. Take a notebook and pen, yes, I did say caveman instruments notebook and pen, and I want you to write down what you do today. I mean, really detailed.
- 7AM got up got coffee
- 715AM (hint, it takes 15 minutes to go to the kitchen and make coffee)
- 715-810AM Exercised
- 830-915 Dr Nocito adjustment
- 915-930 drove home spoke with Peter H regarding Prem
- 930-1015 CNN, real estate news, WSJ
- 1015-1030 Cristin to see if she has the info she needs to follow-up on opportunities
- 1030-1118 get my backup drive to work with my MAC, this was supposed to be a 10 minute setup and required updating MAC OS and Firefox (why would that be?)
- 1118-150PM organize for staff meeting at 2PM
Well, you get the idea, here is the key to this, if you track what you do you will start to see that you are probably working on low payoff activities instead of high payoff activities. How do you fix that? Ah, it starts with having a plan for every day and prioritizing that plan for your HIGH payoff activities rather than letting the LPA’s rule the day and steal your time.
